We are always so inspired when an exhibition reveals the true soul of an artist and the Geta Bratescu exhibition at Camden Arts Centre in North London does exactly that.
Bratescu is now 91, still working every day in her apartment studio in Bucharest. For her, the studio has always been an autonomous space, where she is free from any outside influence and can construct and critique her artistic identity as she wishes.
The exhibition not just chronicles her extraordinary work but really gives us a sense of her personality, her obsessions and her inspirations. It is brilliantly curated and a welcome insight into the creative spirit of a fascinating artist.
Geta Bratescu, The Studio: A Tireless, Ongoing Space is at the Camden Arts Centre until the 18th June 2017.
